Song of Light & Dark

Sweet scent
Woven strands
Mane of the wild mare
Set free

Fists grasping
Hold on tight
For the ride
Wild with
Abandon

Galloping through
The sun soaked meadows
The shady grove of oak

Soft and warm underbelly of
She who holds me
Always

Her tender fetlocks wading
In the glistening streams
Promising
Forgiveness

Wounds run
Red in the water
Reminding me where
Wings collide with
Flesh

Each feather's puncture
Irrevocably riveting
My holiness to
My humanity

A sound stumbles forward
Finding its earthen legs
Within

I am
Beginning to sing
This mourning song
This knowing song
This love song
Of interlaced
Dark and
Light

From
The deep place,
Down in my bones
