A Bahamian Love Bomb

What a year it has been… Filled with love, gratitude, joy, good health, adventure, connection, friends & family, unexpected transformations, and a massive August Wedding Love Fest in the Bahamas! My mother’s heart is bursting with joy, celebrating the wedding of Carrie and my beloved son Ivan in their favorite place on the planet! (Yowza. Now I know why it is!) What a five-day party extraordinaire! And, their friends…I have never met a more loving, intelligent, spunky, warm, kind, fun-loving group of people. There are no words to describe the non-stop festivities that were so seamlessly orchestrated; artful extravagance always infused with sweetness, thoughtfulness, so much beauty, and fun! An enormous, heartfelt thank you to the Solomons for creating an experience of a lifetime for us all.

We danced, we toasted, we feted, we witnessed, we chatted, we hugged, we floated in the warm Bahamian waters, we basked in Carrie & Ivan’s love, we relaxed in our oceanside accommodations, we partook of a plethora of gastronomical delights, we sipped and drank, we laughed, we were moved to tears at the sheer, incessant beauty of it all. Oh…and did I say how much these folks love to dance?!! And, did I say I have a newfound love of golf carts?!! And, who would have guessed, they got hitched on the Lion’s Gate Portal?!

All hearts expanded and exploded any preconceived notion of capacity. It was a complete and utter Love Bomb.

Such. An. Amazing. Couple. I am so thrilled to welcome Carrie as my daughter-in-love…I couldn’t cherish her more. She and Ivan are an inspiring match, they compliment each other so well. I love that they are both in the business of being creative. They take on life with such thoughtful intention. They give me such hope as I watch their innate goodness, care, creativity, and love show up in all ways, every day. They are each a force of good in their own right, and together they amplify that life-affirming quality a gazillion times… Such a gift to witness their splendid union! And, what a comfort as a mother - to know how much loving support they have as a couple, as evidenced by the cocoon of love that surrounded them at their wedding.

After the days of spectacular wedding festivities (which, yes, included a hermit crab race and a wishing tree), I, along with my two besties (who were my Plus 2 for the wedding) stayed another four days on the other end of the island, in the most sublimely beautiful home; remote, and surrounded by 320 degrees of turquoise waters. From the moment our golf cart hit the driveway, it was crystal clear; this space was sacred. Magic was afoot. Every appointment in this home was intentional, its creation driven by soul and a brilliant sense of aesthetics. This was a space designed to nurture the feminine senses in every way. What better place to soak in all of the love and beauty from the wedding; to let it all saturate and imprint on our very cells; each and every moment.

From the wide, open, living-space-sized porches we watched the skies during the meteor shower, we awoke each morning to take in the sunrise, we shared from the heart, we performed rituals by candlelight and in the morning down by the coral-edged ocean with Nora Jones’ “Sunrise” softly playing in the background, we were guided by Pam for tarot reading sessions, we ate $25-a-slice Baker’s Market chocolate cake out of the box late at night before bed, and washed it down with cold Pellegrino. We showered in the open outdoor shower, we were visited by a ghost. We left opened coconuts out for the hermit crabs who, by morning, had made them into Coconut Hotels. We noshed when we felt like it. We dined at Kalopsia, We walked the white powder sand beach, floated in the warm, aquamarine sea. We were visited by a shark and a barracuda. The soft winds blew through the salty strands of our hair, and we were caressed by the soft rustling of the palms and the scents of the island flora. We laughed. And laughed. And laughed. And we laughed some more. We felt the din of the outer world release us from its grasp.

When we finally boarded the ferry and the planes for our journeys home, our hearts were overflowing with gratitude for our ten days in paradise. We left with a newfound radiance, hope for the future, illuminating organic insights, and deeper connections - inner and outer. We left with enough Love Bomb memories to last a lifetime…

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. For it all.

Some Birthday Gratitude:

I am grateful for my family, as small as it is, for their steadfast love and support. I am so glad we are creating more time in each other’s company each year, it means everything. I am so grateful for my canine companion, Lumi, who is such a comfort and source of unconditional love. I admire his adventurous spirit. A shout out to my little grand dog, Tuxie, too!

I am grateful for the gift of the handful of women who I trust with my life, who show up for it all (the real & raw) in the space of close friendship, providing an environment where true intimacy can stretch its legs and flourish. I am so very blessed to know and love each of them.

I am grateful that I got to meet Nina Rose and Lucy this summer! How fortunate these babes are to have such loving, present parents as Abby & Frank and Elena & Mateo!

I am grateful for Miguel, the fellow who mows my lawn; I appreciate how he always shows up in his heart, and how my whole yard is smiling after he has been here.

I am grateful for my ability to see deeply, to receive inspiration from the ethers, to create beauty, to know love.

I am grateful to live in a safe, beautiful place. Every human has a right to experience this.

I am grateful for the gift of being a mother to my son.

I am grateful to live by the ocean. Every year on my birthday I baptize myself in the sacred, salty waters at Ender’s Island. I give thanks for another year of life and recommit myself to a life grounded in love, honesty, generosity, creative expression, and a tethering to that which breathes me.

SO MUCH LOVE.
‍ ‍
SO MUCH CONNECTION.

MY HEART IS FULL.

What a year around the sun!

Let’s drink in as much love, beauty and connection as we can. This, in and of itself, is both medicine and an act of rebellion.

All my love,
Heather
